Potato Paprikash ~ Paprikás Krumpli

Ingredients: (for 2 servings)

  • 1 large onion
  • 3 potatoes
  • 1 tbsp oil
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 1/2 tsp paprika

For this traditional Hungarian comfort food, get yourself in a happy cooking mood! How about some Tom and Jerry to help ya with that? :)

  1. Chop up your onion. Put onions in a medium pot with the oil, and cook on medium heat, making sure they don't brown.
  2.  Meanwhile clean and peel the potatoes. Cut them lengthwise into wedges. When onions are perfectly tender, add potatoes.
  3. Pour just enough water to cover the potatoes, and bring to a boil. After about 5 minutes, reduce heat to low, season with salt and pepper and add the paprika. Cover, and let stand until potatoes are cooked.
  4. Serve with a side of bread, and pickles. Jó étvágyat! (Buon appetit)

You can also add some sausage to this meal (when you add the potatoes), that will make it even more filling. I personally like it without meat, but my grandmother swears it's a must. You decide :)

Usually you eat this with a fork: break up the potatoes, dip the bread in the soupy part, and eat the two together. Yummmm.

Why is this good for you? Because it's Hungarian :)

Let me know how you like it!
